SAQA Regional Exhibition

My piece, Out of This World was accepted into the SAQA ( Studio Art Quilt Associates) Atlantic Regional Show , Commotion which opens on June 7 at the Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design in Sydney NS and will then travel throughout NS and NB until June 2023.

Inspired by photos from the Solar Orbiter I chose to paint images of the corona teaming with thousands of solar flares.  The images revealed a multitude of small flaring loops, erupting bright spots and dark moving fibrils and have been called campfires. Using  these energized charged particles, hundreds of time hotter than the sun displaying turbulence, turmoil and agitation as the impetus for my artwork, gave me a chance to express the feelings we have all shared during this tumultuous year.

All the fabric for the piece was painted.
