Thread Painting Class

Learn the basics of free motion embroidery to create landscapes. Complete a sampler as you learn to make grasses, leaves, flowers, weeds, trees, etc. For those who have some experience or who have taken the course before, you can work independently on your chosen project while receiving individual attention. Thread Paintings

Some of my large matted and framed thread paintings can now be purchased at the artisan district ( formerly Botanicals) 610-612 Queen Street Fredericton NB.  Hours are Tues.- Sat. 10-5 and Fri. 10-6.

The Oct. 23 Thread Painting class scheduled for the Andrew and Laura McCain Gallery in Florenceville- Bristol NB was postponed because of the covid 19 circuit breaker in that part of the district.  It has been rescheduled to April 24, 2022.

Thread Painting

Learn the basics of free motion embroidery using your regular zigzag sewing machine. You will make samples of flowers, weeds, trees, water etc.  You can spend the whole day perfecting samples or move on to start a small landscape.  Landscape principles will also be discussed. Exciting News

I was excited and very pleased to  recently learn that my piece Bank Machine Blues was chosen by Martha Sielman to include in her book on fibre artists who are inspired by birds.  Martha is the Executive Director of Studio Art Quilts Associates ( SAQA). 

Exhibition and Sale

Sunbury shores Arts and Nature Centre  Saint Andrews NB has accepted my submission of New Brunswick through the Seasons in Paint, Fabric and Thread to be included in their Craft Year 2020 exhibition and sale to be held Oct. 2- Nov. 7, 2020 in Saint Andrews.  My submission includes both thread paintings and wall quilts.

Creating a Landscape


Due to covid 19 workshops are postponed for the present time.

 Create a landscape using my pattern or design your own from your own photo or drawing. This can be quilted or stitched and framed.  Design considerations such as composition, depth, choosing colours to enhance perspective will be discussed.

Thread Painting Two

Due to the Covid 19 outbreak workshops are postponed at this time. Build upon the knowledge gained in Thread Painting One.  Design considerations will be discussed and expanded. Students will construct a landscape using appropriate fabrics and machine applique techniques. Machine embroidery techniques will be quickly reviewed and students will be encouraged to individualize their landscapes both in the construction and in the free motion embroidery stages. Methods for quilting the landscape will be explored.
