Book of Animals for Upcoming 1st birthday of my Granddaughter

I spent the month of January having fun working on an original book to give to my granddaughter, Madeline, on her upcoming first birthday, May 14. I used applique for most of the creatures and added a bit of background here and there with inktense pencils. I was especially pleased with my red cardinal made with inktense pencils.. I was not pleased with the fusible interfacing I used so if advising anyone, I would suggest backing the pages with a sew-in-interfacing. I used Avery printable fabric sheets to print the text. To hold the book together I made two sets of eyelets through each page and laced it together with cord.

Using Inktense Pencils to Create Applique Fabrics

Put your adult colouring skills to work and play with inktense pencils to create flowers and leaves that will be cut out and used to create appliqués. This is a fun workshop where you will learn some of the tricks for colouring realistic images of your choice and then adding water to turn them into beautifully shaded fabrics. After the appliqués are created, you will cut them out and fuse them to a background. You can use my pattern for clematis or bring your own inspirations for flower or leaves.  To register contact me at [email protected] or phone 506-363-3560.

Festival of Quilts Easy Demos

Using Inktense Pencils to Create Appliqués-Students watch as I put my adult colouring skills to work and use Derwent inktense pencils to create my own appliqué pieces. You will learn some of the tricks for colouring realistic images and then adding water to turn them into beautifully shaded fabrics. Using the basic maple leaf I will walk you  through the process of creating one of a kind fabric, adhering a fusible web and cutting out the appliqué free form from the front.  Using this method you don’t have to worry about the bleeding that often occurs if you are colouring directly on a quilt.  Examples of other inktense created fabric appliqués will be shown.

I am able to pass on a discount if you are planning on attending the event. To book tickets simply go to their website www.thefestivalofquilts.co.uk  or call 0844 858 6749 and use code WT62 when prompted and you can get a discount!

World Wide Whispers Exhibition

I am very sorry to say that because of a miscommunication the World Wide Whispers quilts will not be shown at the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham UK.  I am extremely disappointed as that was my main reason for attending.  However I will still be delivering my 1 hr. demonstrations on using inktense pencils to create fabric for appliqués.

The World Wide Whispers quilts will be shown at Quilt Canada 2020 in Edmonton Alberta as well as many venues throughout Europe.

Sun Printing and Other Fabric Painting Techniques

Learn to paint using Pebeo setacolor fabric paints on cotton.  Special effects techniques such as sun printing and using salt will be explored. Create your own fabric for a special landscape, shaded fabric for a flower you wish to appliqué, yardage for a special sky or backgrounds for an embroidery. You will learn how to mix colours and apply the paints.  A demonstration using Derwent Inktense pencils will also be given. Comprehensive notes provided.
