Creating a Goldfinch Totally From Thread

 

Use free motion embroidery on your regular zigzag sewing machine to create a beautiful goldfinch totally from thread. Once the bird is created, it will be cut out and appliqued onto your background fabric . Once learned the method can be used to create other birds, animals and flowers . These can be used for wall pieces, bags, wearable art etc. Extensive notes will be provided. This class takes place in my home studio at 683 Route 104 Burtts Corner on Sat. Oct 7 from 10-4. Inktense Pencil Class

-Using Inktense pencils to create fabric.  Put your adult colouring skills to work and play with inktense pencils to create flowers and leaves that can be cut out and used to create appliqués. This is a fun workshop where you will learn some of the tricks for colouring realistic images of your choice and then adding liquid to turn them into beautifully shaded fabrics.

Class will be held Feb. 4 2023 at the NB College of Craft and Design. Sign up before Dec. 15 for a n early bird 30% reduction in the price of your class.  Put your adult colouring skills to work and play with inktense pencils on white cotton fabric to create flowers or leaves that you will use to create appliqués. This is a fun workshop where  you will learn some of the tricks for colouring realistic images and then adding liquid to turn them into beautifully shaded fabrics. You will cut them out and iron them to your chosen background. Choose between my patterns for clematis or maple leaves or bring your own inspirations for flowers and leaves. This can be used as a wall hanging, as a block in a bed quilt, to create a bag etc. Learning this technique opens many options for creating flowers and shaded fabrics. Thread Painting Class

Learn the basics of free motion embroidery to create landscapes. Complete a sampler as you learn to make grasses, leaves, flowers, weeds, trees, etc. For those who have some experience or who have taken the course before, you can work independently on your chosen project while receiving individual attention. The Oct. 23 Thread Painting class scheduled for the Andrew and Laura McCain Gallery in Florenceville- Bristol NB was postponed because of the covid 19 circuit breaker in that part of the district.  It has been rescheduled to April 24, 2022.

Creating a Landscape

 

Due to covid 19 workshops are postponed for the present time.

 Create a landscape using my pattern or design your own from your own photo or drawing. This can be quilted or stitched and framed.  Design considerations such as composition, depth, choosing colours to enhance perspective will be discussed.

Thread Painting Two

Due to the Covid 19 outbreak workshops are postponed at this time. Build upon the knowledge gained in Thread Painting One.  Design considerations will be discussed and expanded. Students will construct a landscape using appropriate fabrics and machine applique techniques. Machine embroidery techniques will be quickly reviewed and students will be encouraged to individualize their landscapes both in the construction and in the free motion embroidery stages. Methods for quilting the landscape will be explored.
